This scene started its life as Loop de loop animation but I ran out of time. It sat on my hard drive for about 3 months until I noticed it and thought I could do some with it. いたち (Itachi) is the Japanese word for weasel. But in Japan it can also have other means. Japan Subculture Research Center reckons:
itachi (鼬・いたち): a weasel, but in the yakuza world also slang for a very good police detective. いたちごっこ(itachgokko) “to act like a weasel” refers to a game that Japanese children play in which it is impossible for either side to win. The police versus the yakuza war which has been going on since 1965 is often referred to as itachigokko.
Sticking chopstick in rice vertically is a big taboo in Japan, as it is reserved for funeral practices. But in this scene it kind of works.
